Phoebe English : FLOATING | FALLING | DROWNING | FLYING

21 May-9 Aug 2015

NOW Gallery
Greenwich Peninsula, London SE10 0SQ

Overview

– AN INTROSPECTIVE OF PROCESS. Phoebe English presents her most ambitious installation to date; a seven meter long silver bead construction as the gallery’s first fashion commission. Effortlessly suspended from the gallery’s ceiling, the spiked glass surface, constructed from thousands of beads, hand stitched together, becomes increasingly dense and chaotic as it reaches the ground. This central installation will produce a breath-taking image of contrasting textures, forms by creating a visual weightiness through the use of rough materials to craft a seemingly soft, undulating and sprawling surface. There will be a set of cabinets displaying an exploration of the processes behind English’s past work.
