Gwenllian Spink

Camberwell Space
London SE5 8UF

Overview

An exhibition of new work by Gwenllian Spink, recipient of the Vanguard Award 2018-19. Within her practice, Gwenllian Spink mimics elements of her native Welsh landscape using the visual language and cultural influences that she has gained through living in London. Most recently, this has led to an amalgamation of Neolithic remnants that have marked the land since prehistory, with mass-produced objects that play their part in shaping the material landscape of contemporary urban environments. The Vanguard Prize allows Vanguard Court to help new artists grow and develop and reinforces Vanguard's strong links with Camberwell College of Arts. The prize, launched in 2010, is for graduating students of the College. The winner is offered a year's free studio residence at Vanguard Court along with ongoing mentoring and support from Camberwell College of Arts.
