Hosted by David Zwirner, London.
On 31 May 2024, Gasworks will present an exhibition of editions by artists who have helped shape the organisation’s programme since its founding in 1994. Hosted by David Zwirner and coinciding with London Gallery Weekend, the exhibition offers artwork for sale to raise funds and support the future of Gasworks’ Residencies, Exhibitions and Participation Programme.
All the Lovers reunites alumni from the last three decades of Gasworks’ programmes, led by a series of 30th Anniversary Editions by Hew Locke (Founding Artist and Studio Holder, 1996-2003), Sin Wai Kin (Studio Holder, 2018-2023) and Francis Offman (Residency Artist, 2023) which will be shown publicly for the first time. Three artist proofs of Portia Zvavahera’s sold out silkscreen print, Take Me Deeper, 2017, made during her Gasworks Residency of the same year, will also be released for the occasion.
Alongside these newly available works, the exhibition includes artwork by other fellow alumni: Pio Abad, Pablo Accinelli, Monira Al Qadiri, Adelaide Cioni, Lauren Godfrey, Blanca Gracia, Gal Leshem, Candice Lin, Sidsel Meineche Hansen, Ad Minoliti, Eduardo Navarro, Pedro Neves Marques, Ravelle Pillay, Gala Porras-Kim, Tai Shani, Sriwhana Spong, Kemang Wa Lehulere and Trevor Yeung.
Gasworks was established in 1994 and entrusted to a group of artists including Sonia Boyce, Hew Locke, and Joy Gregory to occupy and programme independently. Gasworks provides studios for London-based artists; commissions emerging artists to present their first major exhibitions in London; offers a highly respected programme of international residencies working primarily with artists based outside Europe and North America; and runs a Participation Programme committed to widening access to contemporary art for its local community in South London through interactive projects.
Gasworks is also the hub of Triangle Network, an international network of small-scale arts organisations and projects that support and disseminate the work of emerging artists through artist-led workshops, residencies, exhibitions, and outreach events.
Robert Leckie, Director, Gasworks:
“Our 30th Anniversary is an occasion to celebrate the outstanding community of artists who have given Gasworks its reputation for diversity and artistic excellence. Our Editions programme is a vital channel for making the work of our alumni more visible, whilst simultaneously raising funds to help support future programmes. We are indebted to our artists for their generosity in contributing towards a sustainable future for the organisation; and are grateful to David Zwirner for the opportunity to spotlight the breadth of talent we have been privileged to nurture over the last 30 years.”
