Overview

An Exhibition exploring the natural environment through the medium of wood.

Richard Lawrence and Margaret Higginson are two artists whose work focuses on the environment.  Both making sculptures that are carved in wood, some with elements of construction plus reliefs and woodcut prints.

Richard Lawrence’s approach is a contemporary take on the natural environment, work that documents the damage and loss of wilderness as well as a lament to that loss.

Margaret Higginson delves in to the abstract growth rings of the wood.  This highlights both a sculptural and a literal reality of time passing.

This exhibition invites guests to engage with the sculptures through touch as well as sight.
