LaCollection.io and Annka Kultys are pleased to present Web 3.0 Aesthetics: In the Future Post-Hype of the NFTs (a Trilogy Curated by Annka Kultys for LaCollecion.io). Part one of the trilogy, a 9-day NFT auction will take place from 7 May until 16 May 2022 at ANNKA KULTYS GALLERY and in the metaverse, and will explore NFT aesthetics through the lens of social, intellectual, and technological upheaval that took place in the turn on the 21st century.

This first exhibition of the NFT Trilogy opening in May 2022 in the metaverse will include 27 NFTs presented in three themes ‘Metamorphosis of the Body’, ‘Digital Florascapes’, and ‘Digital Abstraction’, each section featuring 9 NFTs.

The NFT will be sold on www.LaCollection.io with drops starting 7 May 2022 at 6pm (BST) for 9 full days, until 16 May 2022 at 8pm (BST). The NFTs will be offered both in EUR (payable with a credit card, no initial crypto wallet needed) and in ETH (for those who already own a crypto wallet). Reserve prices start at EUR 280 – 20,000 or 0.1 – 6 ETH. The two following exhibitions with new themes will premier later this year: the second in June and the third in October 2022. Selected themes include digital sculpture, AI generated art, and digital city landscapes.

This first drop explores canonical themes within art history — the body, nature, and abstraction– and how artists translate them to the NFT space.

‘Metamorphosis of the Body’ explores how artists represent the body and expand its definition through the use of technology in the NFT space. ‘Metamorphosis of the Body’ features work by LaTurbo Avedon, Jeremy Bailey, Danielle Braithwaite-Shirley, Stine Deja, Baron Lanteigne, Olga Mikh Fedorova, Signe Pierce, Marjane Moghaddam, and Ziyang Wu.

‘Digital Florascapes’ surveys artists Kate Bickmore and Sian Fan, Claudia Hart, Lauren Moffat, Signe Pierce, Anna Ridler, Ada Sokól, and Addie Wagenknecht with Alaia Hernando, and Ziyang Wu who use new technologies, computers, and NFTs to represent, depict and re-invent nature today.

‘Digital Abstraction’ traces how artists generate abstraction with new tools. Abstract art largely seems unrelated to the world of appearances, however with the right software, an image on a screen can be morphed from figurative to abstract with the press of a key. Tools such as autonomous systems create ‘generative art’ and a variety of softwares use pixels as paint to create new colour fields. Artists include Chris Dorland, Harm van den Dropel, Andreas Gysin, Rachel de Joode, Yves Peitzner and Jelena Gregov, Aaron Scheer, Alida Sun, and Jennifer West.

ANNKA KULTYS GALLERY is a hybrid commercial art project that merges physical and digital experiences. Founded by Annka Kultys in 2015/2022, the East London-based gallery has rapidly become a leading art space for artists (particularly millennials), who engage with technology (and more recently decentralised technology) in both traditional and digital media. Through a robust program of exhibitions that showcase these artists alongside a commitment to promoting the hybrid “phygital” approach, Kultys aims to shape the discourse on contemporary art and technology while pushing the boundaries of what is achievable within both physical and digital gallery spaces.
