Overview

Admission Free
David Tremlett’s Drawing for Free Thinking 2011 is the first monumental drawing in a public space in England by this artist. The site-specific work, wrapping the entire length of the Manton staircase at Tate Britain measures sixteen metres high and forty-two metres long and has been made with pastel crayons and varnish. Inspired by the long tradition of twentieth century constructivism, Drawing for Free Thinking consists of broad blocks of strong colour, straight lines, squares and rectangles.
