For her first major solo show in London for many years, Katharina Grosse presents a site-specific painted installation in the SLG’s main gallery. Continuing her exploration of the role of performance and the artist’s body within painting and sculptural practice, this new work will be defined by a large empty rectangle on the floor, raising questions about time and action, and the ability of painting to fuse notions of past, present and future into one field. Also included in the exhibition will be two films selected by the artist and shown in the first floor galleries, one of which is from the series Women Artists (2016) by Claudia Müller and documents Grosse curating a fantasy exhibition by other female artists.
