Martyn Cross in conversation with Ned McConnell, Curator, The Roberts Institute of Art

On Saturday 18 January at 3pm, Hales will host an in conversation between artist Martyn Cross and Curator at The Roberts Institute of Art, Ned McConnell. The conversation takes Cross' solo show Of Oil and Earth as a starting point to discuss his practice and influences. 

Of Oil and Earth, a show of new works, continues Cross's exploration of the biomorphic landscape - the top of a head, a singular eye, a pointing hand emerge from the ground to form knowingly ambiguous narratives. An array of influences and references come into Cross's drawings and paintings, including medieval imagery, cartoons, the artwork of Cecil Collins and books, particularly the Septology series by Jon Fosse. 

Attendance is free but seating is on a first come, first served basis.
