Join artist Chisato Minamimura for a BSL response to Autograph’s exhibition Rotimi Fani-Kayode: The Studio – Staging Desire. Minamimura will introduce key themes in the exhibition, contextualise Fani-Kayode's practise in relation to art and activism in the 80s and use the artist's body of work to expand on ideas of self representation, spirituality and community from a Deaf perspective.
The event will take place in Autograph’s gallery, alongside never-before-seen works from Rotimi Fani-Kayode's wider practice. These photographs delve into ideas of culture, intimacy, desire and pain – depicting radical forms of black bodily expression.
This event will be in British Sign Language only.
The exhibition talk will last around 45 minutes, starting promptly at 6:30pm and will be followed by an informal opportunity to socialise over drinks.
