The Bow Open is Bow Arts’ annual showcase of astonishing artwork created exclusively by our Studio Holders and Artist Educators. Each year, a different guest curator is invited to to select the work.
The guest curator for 2023 is Chila Burman.
Chila needs little introduction. Her artworks are renowned for fusing art, autobiography and activism, and she brightened so many lives during the pandemic with her stunning technicolour neon light sculptures as part of the installation ‘Remembering A Brave New World’ for the Tate Britain Winter Commission (2020-2021).
This year’s Bow Open comes with a theme. Considering the vibrancy and activism of Chila’s own practice, she invited our artists to ‘bring your light’ to the Nunnery. Whether interpreted metaphorically, literally, or poetically, this is sure to be an Open to inspire!
