Hoxton Street Summer Fair at Peer with On the Record

12 Aug 2023 1-4pm

PEER
London N16QL

Overview

Join On the Record as part of the Grow Your Own oral history project for an interactive, zine making workshop.

As part of Hoxton Street Summer Fair join On the Record as part of the Grow Your Own oral history project for an interactive, zine making workshop exploring the history of community action for childcare in Hackney. In the 1970s campaigners demanded better childcare and created nurseries and children's centres for everyone to use. Discover what we can learn from this history to help us tackle the childcare crisis we face today.

The workshop is suitable for ages 6+ and drop-in sessions running between 1pm-4pm.

Tickets can be booked here.

Grow Your Own is uncovering the little-known history of childcare activism in London with the aim of sharing useful information from this history with people and groups affected by childcare today. It is a project run by On the Record, an oral history and community heritage organisation, with Post-Pandemic Childcare Coalition and funding from Trust for London.

This event is part of Hoxton Street Summer Fair a day to showcase the arts and cultural organisations of Hoxton as part of Hoxton Street Market.

The Summer Fair runs from 11.00 - 5.00pm on Saturday 12 August in venues all along Hoxton Street, including the market. See the full programme here.
