Overview

Upgrade Yourself is taking over our summer exhibition BLACK VENUS for one night only! This free event gives emerging and aspiring creatives aged 18-30 the chance to make meaningful connections with likeminded individuals and network with industry professionals.  

Upgrade Yourself, Somerset House's creative skills programme aimed at deepening and widening engagement, looks to remove barriers and increase representation in the cultural sector, with a focus on young aspiring and emerging creative talent. 

Your free ticket gives you access to:

After-hours entry to BLACK VENUS, an exhibition bringing together the work of 18 Black women and non-binary artists to explore the othering, fetishisation and reclamation of narratives around Black femininity. 
The chance to book an add-on workshop that explores identity and your creative practice (limited capacity).
An artist talk that delves into a creative's career journey and provides insight into their creative process.
The Upgrade Yourself Social – with a medley of perfectly curated tunes from Black female-identifying musicians, DJ CAFFY will be providing the soundtrack for the Upgrade Yourself Social. Grab a free drink at the bar, meet likeminded creatives as part of our networking activations and chat to industry experts, exhibition contributors and Somerset House residents to find out more about working in the creative sector.
