Embassy: Non-Aligned Art

18 Jun 2023 2-5pm

Tate Modern
London SE1 9TG

Overview

Join us for the closing day of Richard Bell’s Embassy

Housed in a tent surrounded by protest signs, Embassy is a space for activism and dialogue in support of Aboriginal land rights in Australia.

Embassy is activated through a series of public events with Richard in conversation with guest speakers and audience participants. Today’s event explores Richard Bell’s vision for a non-aligned art movement rooted in collective politics. We will be joined by members of The Otolith Group, Taring Padi and Ruangrupa. Visitors are encouraged to take part in these conversations and share their stories and experiences. All conversations are documented and form part of an archive that transcends national boundaries.

14.00–15.00
Join us for a free community lunch provided by Walworth Living Room which is a community space open to everyone and a project of Pembroke House.

15.00–17.00
Join Richard Bell to discuss his vision for a non-aligned art movement rooted in collective politics with members of The Otolith Group (Anjalika Sagar, Kodwo Eshun), Alexander Supartono (Taring Padi), Iswanto Hartono (Ruangrupa), Paul Goodwin and others.

The event will be filmed and livestreamed.
