Influenced by Neorealist film and Conceptual art, Guido Guidi began exploring Italy’s man- altered landscape in the 1970s. He is interested in mapping the subtle changes of familiar places. For him photography is something autobiographical; it is synonymous with inhabiting, and the camera is the instrument that allows him to observe, appropriate and collect evidence and traces of lives experienced. Guido Guidi was born in Cesena, Italy, in 1941. His work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, Fotomuseum Winterthur, Centre Georges Pompidou, Guggenheim Museum, MAXXI and in 2014, 'Veramente’ - a retrospective of his work- has been touring from the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson through several venues in Europe.
