Earlier in 2011 Zavier Ellis, Edward Lucie-Smith & Simon Rumley were invited to curate an exhibition at Torrance Art Museum. The result was the meeting of two houses: Ellis & Rumley's 'THE FUTURE CAN WAIT' and Lucie-Smith's 'Polemically Small'. The three curators selected almost 100 London based or educated artists working at small scale and on paper. Having realised how strong this show was the curator's thought it amiss not to put this on in London. Despite the reduced physical space from Torrance Art Museum to CHARLIE SMITH london, the curators look forward to mounting a huge show of small work in an intimate location, re-emphasising the fact that big is not always better.
