Overview

Makiko Nakamura’s paintings are each created with immense skill and depth. Her delicately worked paintings originate from grid like compositions that are made up of many layers and techniques. Using a unique method the surface is burnished as each coat of oil paint is applied, this builds up a highly polished, almost reflective finish to these abstract paintings. Through this process areas of early layers are exposed and later removed, this practice makes Makiko’s paintings incredibly distinctive with their subtle yet captivating quality.
