Overview

The Residence Gallery presents the first UK solo show of Canadian artist Brad Phillips. The autobiographic works that comprise “Suicide Note Writer’s Block” represent a dark outlook with a sense of wit and humour. The paintings, as windows exposing vignettes of the artist’s life, do not reveal the entire narrative allowing the viewers to provide their own. Without regard for the past or future, Phillips’ paintings are concerned exclusively with the present, granting these quotidian moments a rare poetry and immediacy.
