Reanimation Library Hackney Branch

3 Sep-16 Oct 2010

SPACE
London IG1 1ZJ

Overview

The Reanimation Library is an independent library based in Brooklyn, New York. It is a collection of books that have fallen out of mainstream circulation. Outdated and discarded, they have been culled from thrift stores, stoop sales, and throw-away piles across the country and given new life as resource material for artists, writers, and other cultural archaeologists. Reanimation Library | Hackney Branch will consist of a small selection of books from the main library and a set of locally acquired books that will be made available for the general public to work with in the gallery space for the duration of the show. The branch library at SPACE will also feature an exhibition of artists’ responses to a treasured volume in the library’s collection, Inkblot Perception and Personality: Holtzman Inkblot Technique (University of Texas Press, 1961).
