NJIDEKA AKUNYILI CROSBY : REMAIN, THRIVING

1 Sep 2018-10 Apr 2019

Art On The Underground
All stations London

Overview

Art on the Underground is to present a new commission by Njideka Akunyili Crosby at Brixton station as part of a new programme taking inspiration from the murals created in the area during the 1980s. Nigerian-born Akunyili Crosby has been invited to take on the first commission in the new programme from 20 September 2018. The programme is inviting selected artists to respond to the diverse narratives of the murals, the rapid development of the area and the wider social and political history of mural making. This new commission forms part of Art on the Underground’s 2018 programme of exclusively female artists, a part of #BehindEveryGreatCity – a major campaign by the Mayor of London.
