“Genius lands where genius will, and I’m pretty sure some alighted on Bill Lynch”- Roberta Smith, The New York Times, 2014 The Approach is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by the late American painter Bill Lynch organised in collaboration with Verne Dawson and White Columns, New York. Following on from a successful introduction to a wider audience in New York in 2014, this will be the first time these paintings are shown outside of America. Painting primarily onto salvaged plywood sheets, leaving areas raw and exposed, Lynch depicted landscapes and wildlife, cultural artefacts and mythical symbols with instinctive and direct brushstrokes and a psychological connection to his subject matter.
