Overview

This Serpentine show will be the first major UK public exhibition of work by artists Kerstin Brätsch (b. 1979, Hamburg) and Adele Röder (b. 1980, Dresden), who work collaboratively as DAS INSTITUT. DAS INSTITUT functions on many levels, operating as a collaboration and as a platform where each individual artist contributes works from their own personal practice. Brätsch uses painting to question the ways in which the body can be expressed – psychologically, physically and socially, while Röder searches for basic symbolic forms to create a non-verbal language utilizing clothing, postures and light. For their exhibition at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, emphasis will be placed on the properties and effects of light.
