Join writer and AIDS activist Simon Watney, photographer Sunil Gupta, and Fiona Anderson, author of Cruising the Dead River: David Wojnarowicz and New York's Ruined Waterfront, for a conversation exploring the importance of bearing witness to the experience of HIV/AIDS through photography.
The discussion will focus on the theme of friendship, the impact of HIV/AIDS on the downtown New York world that Hujar was a part of, communication and exchange between HIV/AIDS activists in New York and London in the 1980s, and changing perspectives on Hujar’s work and the HIV/AIDS crisis today.
