Overview

"The Ark" exhibition marks the debut of Krupa Gallery's London space, housed in a historic former pub.

This show in London’s newly converted gallery space, once the historic Pakenham Arms pub, draws from the rich tapestry of its past as a vibrant social hub. For over a century, the site served as a place of gathering, celebration, and respite—a cultural landmark where locals and travelers alike converged. Now, as it transitions into a gallery, the exhibition honors this heritage, exploring humanity’s tribal, animalistic roots and the magnetic allure of shared space. Through art, it channels the pub’s ethos of community, serving as a symbolic waypoint in the constant journey of connection and self-discovery.

The exhibition resonates with images of transition: entrances, passageways, doors and new beginnings. Reflecting Krupa Gallery's expansion from its home in Wroclaw to the heart of London, it symbolically inaugurates this space like the ceremonial ship launching. Works by artists such as Milosz Flis, Anna Maria Zuzela and Paweł Baśnik confront viewers with the primal and the industrial, the human and the mythical hybrids - creating a multidimensional reflection on the fluidity of gender, bodies, relationships, places and moments where life's journeys and the relationships of multi-species communities overlap.
