The ICA’s presentation of New Contemporaries coincides with its 75th anniversary celebrations. Since 1949, New Contemporaries has presented an annual survey exhibition of emerging and early career artists from UK art schools and learning programmes. The ICA and New Contemporaries have a long and intertwined history, with the ICA regularly hosting New Contemporaries from the 1970s to 2010s.
This year’s exhibition includes 35 artists selected through an open call by internationally renowned artists Liz Johnson Artur, Permindar Kaur and Amalia Pica. The exhibition will be across both Lower and Upper Galleries. A diverse event programme featuring current and alumni New Contemporaries artists is planned.
The exhibition opens at ICA, later being presented across three venues in Plymouth, KARST, The Levinsky Gallery and MIRROR.
