Join us at 3pm on Saturday 16th November for a film screening of two award-winning documentaries that delve into the artistic lives of Seyni Awa Camara and Johnson Weree.
Donner Naissance (Giving Birth) by Fatou Kandé Senghor profiles the work and legacy of Seyni Awa Camara, providing an intimate look at Camara's daily practice and the themes which inform her sculptures. Selected by Okwui Enwezor for the 56th Venice Biennale, Senghor's film has garnered international critical acclaim.
Weree by Tal Amiran follows self-taught artist Johnson Weree. Having fled the Liberian Civil War, Weree seeks asylum in the Netherlands where he lives as an undocumented immigrant. This year, the multiple award-winning Weree has been selected over 30 film festivals worldwide.
The screening will be followed by a Q+A with one or more filmmakers. Space is limited, please RSVP as soon as possible.
