Simryn Gill: Shelter

20 Sep-2 Nov 2024

Richard Saltoun
London W1S4NS

Overview

Richard Saltoun Gallery presents the first solo exhibition by Singapore-born, Australian artist Simryn Gill (b. 1959) at the gallery, curated by Catherine de Zegher, who also curated Gill’s presentation for the Australian Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale. The exhibition features works from the past X years across sculpture, photography and Gill’s signature ink rubbings on paper. Shelter highlights the artist’s pivotal role in contemporary non-Eurocentric ecological discourse, following her recent inclusions in Barbican’s RE/SISTERS exhibition (2023/24) and the duo exhibition Sea is a Field at the Singapore Art Museum (2024) among other significant institutional showcases.
