Formations in Clay Furniture is a curated exhibition from County Hall Pottery, of Ceramic Design.
The collection showcases diverse works from seven celebrated artists, each of whom produce large-scale functional ceramic furniture and artwork pieces and are fascinated by exploring the limitless potential of clay.
The exhibition invites viewers to consider how they interact with ceramics in everyday life, as a material used for a variety of functions such as in sinks and disc brakes. Subverting the idea of what we imagine should be mass produced, it instead presents the possibilities, variety and beauty of creation by hand.
Through its exploration of texture and the intersection of art, craft, and design, Formations in Clay Furniture reveals the ingenious techniques each artist employs, as they infuse moments of joy and surprise into the mundane.
