Developed site-specifically as part of his commission in The Curve, this performance reflects on the politics of queer nightlife exploring themes of marginalisation, resistance and community.
In collaboration with Guillaume le Pape, this site-specific performance follows a group of people who've been denied entry to a nightclub. Exploring the politics of queer nightlife, it examines the duality of clubs as both safe spaces and places where certain privileges and oppressions are perpetuated.
As we move with the group through the space of The Curve, Ababri emphasises the tension between inclusion and exclusion, safety and vulnerability within these spaces, reflecting on the complex social hierarchies and power structures at play in queer nightlife.
Delving into the nuanced realities of LGBTQIA+ clubs and raves, Ababri underscores how the promise of acceptance and freedom often coexists with societal inequalities. A call to action prompting us to collectively rethink how we create and navigate spaces of belonging and resistance.
