Overview

JD Malat Gallery proudly announces Michael Muir’s first solo exhibition that will take place outside of Australia and New Zealand titled Above the Surface. The exhibition will be on display on the lower ground floor of the gallery, from the 2nd of May until the 1st of June along with an exclusive preview on the 1st of May from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at JD Malat Gallery. Michael Muir is a Scottish-born artist who depicts paradisaic scenescapes while employing a minimalistic technique, imbuing his compositions with a unique textural vibrancy. Above the Surface sees these five emotional paintings exude an atmospheric warmth that leaves its audience with a visceral feeling of tranquillity and comfort. Depicting everyday scenes of contemporary life coalesced with memory, Muir utilises simplicity, optimism, and nostalgia to create compositions that allow the viewer to witness the beauty of the natural world as it reigns supreme.
