CCA Derry~Londonderry, Lithuanian Culture Institute and Kaunas Artists' House (KAH) are pleased to annouce an exhibition that showcases the work of CCA's DeMo Reciprocal Residents 2024 - Ieva Kotryna Ski (LT) and Roisín McGuigan (NI). The exhibition follows a residency between CCA and Kaunas Artists' House.
During her residency at Kaunas Artists' House, artist Roisín McGuigan will build on threads of dialogue, negotiation and dissent that run through her practice. The artist will expand on auto-ethnographic reflections on place, phenomena and the reverberations of growing up near the NI border.
Ieva Kotryna Ski will use the residency at CCA Derry~Londonderry to develop an ongoing project that reflects on seaside holiday fantasies in the context of the Curonian Spit, a local treasure hunt in the region and the selective observations by holidaymakers vacationing there. In addition, Ieva will spend her time at CCA researching fractured landscapes and the term 'Síreacht', which broadly translates to longing, in the context of Lithuania and Ireland.
The work created and research developed during these residencies will contribute to this exhibition at CCA.
