Lubaina Himid’s practice includes paintings, drawings, and installations through which she seeks to uncover marginalised histories, figures, and cultural expressions. We are delighted to welcome her to the Holburne to hear more about the influences on her work, particularly the Lost Threads installation currently on show. Lubaina will be in conversation with Amrita Dhallu, a curator and researcher based in London. She provides support structures for emerging British artists through commissioning, editorial projects, creating artistic networks and intergenerational learning spaces. Her current research examines ‘care’, spatial politics and ethno-futurist discourse within exhibition-making. She is Assistant Curator, International Art at Tate Modern, London, where she co-curated Lubaina Himid’s monographic exhibition (2021-2).
