Overview

Will Thompson (b. 1987, Nottingham, UK) lives and works in London. 'The Word Projector' is his first solo exhibition with Union Pacific. The artist’s practice, which spans painting to sculpture, investigates the ways in which identity and image are manipulated within the quotidian. Drawing on the complicated history of representation, he references the serial conditioning of aesthetics and the repetition of industry within intimately-sized portraits and heavily symbolic sculptures. Thompson aims to expose the blunt reality of human complexity beneath the shiny glory of capitalism and contemporary depictions of identity.

Recent solo exhibitions include: The Word Projector, Union Pacific, London (upcoming, 2024) and Chippy Dinner, PlazaPlaza, London (2018). Selected group exhibitions include: Union Pacific Liste Art Fair, Basel (2023), Party in the Blitz, MAMOTH, London (2023), Poetic Dandruff, Barry Gallery, London (2022) and Model Village, Swiss Church, London (2020), amongst others.
