JD Malat Gallery proudly announces Erin Holly’s first London solo exhibition titled A Trans Arrangement of the Painted Space. The exhibition will be on display from the 16th November until the 6th December along with an exclusive preview that will take place on the 15th November from 6.30pm at JD Malat Gallery. Erin Holly is a transgender British artist whose body of work addresses various themes such as the politics of space and architecture’s crucial role in inclusivity and accessibility, embodiment and trans identity. The exhibition consists of 12 oil paintings drawing inspiration from interior advertisements and ‘DIY’ manuals from the 1950s to the present day. By creating these imagined spaces of domestic life based on reality, Holly encourages her audience to question the heteronormative lens of architectural space and criticise the fixed conditions it has placed upon her trans identity.
