Dastan Gallery, from Tehran, present 'REALISM', a group exhibition examining the tension between the idea of realism, the realities of real-life experiences, and the notion of realism as an artistic aesthetic.
The exhibition will feature works by: Andisheh Avini, Reza Aramesh, Y.Z. Kami, Sahand Hesamiyan, Shohreh Mehran, Mehrdad Mohebali, Shayan Sajadian, Sina Shiri, Alborz Kazemi, Rana Javadi, Farhad Moshiri, Homa Delvaray, Pooya Razi, Mitra Farahani, Newsha Tavakolian, Gohar Dashti, Maryam Ayeen & Abbas Shahsavar, Mehran Mohajer, Soheila Sokhanvari, Kiarash Alimi, Behjat Sadr, Peybak, Mamali Shafahi, Farrokh Mahdavi, Ali Akbar Sadeghi, Farah Ossouli, Ghasemi Brothers, and Mohammad Hossein Gholamzadeh.
The realities of real-life experiences depicted in this show, refer particularly to the lives of Iranians and their endurance as humans living through difficult times of civil strife and economic survival. These artists express, paint, draw or sculpt what they see, feel and experience. It's certainly real, and to represent it, you sometimes have to use realistic aesthetics to make the hard point, and sometimes you have to appeal to the interpretation of it; expressly an impression of what is real along with an emotion of what is real.
