Join artist Lucy Nelson for a drop-in workshop suitable for all ages and abilities.
Imagine invisible worlds and tiny life-forms. Then, make your own bacteria and fungi-inspired pictures using a range of wet and dry art materials. Add your images to a macro-world installation. Be part artist, scientist, and discoverer.
Lucy’s artwork is exhibited in Portalis, and this creative activity is an opportunity to explore the themes in her work and experiment.
Portalis presents six artists’ concepts of the cave, reflecting on personal experiences, memories and associations. The exhibition spans five portal themes: inner self, transformation, spirituality, the underworld and adventure.
This is an annual collaboration between Nottingham Contemporary and Nottingham Trent University, where Post and Undergraduate students join their disciplines of Fine Art, Interior Architecture, Photography and Graphic Design to research, produce and document a new exhibition. This year, students responded to the exhibition Hollow Earth: Art, Caves and The Subterranean Imagery.
