To mark the final week of Enej Gala's solo show at the gallery saving chewing gums from mammoth's hair, there will be a closing event and musical performance by the artist and Emmanuel Awuni, which will shift the dialogue between sculptures, to a dialogue between a clarinet and a flute.
The exhibition marks the second installment of our collaboration with A plus A gallery in Venice, an exchange project that sees our two galleries host each other's exhibitions in each other's spaces. saving chewing gums from mammoth's hair presents a series of sculptural groups, formally unconnected yet intimately linked, inspired by plushies and puppet theatre. The accompanying text by Treti Galaxie sees two characters, the wall-based 'Phil' and the floor-based 'Will', in a looped dialogue about the spectator, the works and their role in the show.
Enej Gala (Ljubljana, Slovenia, 1990) lives and works between London, Venice and Nova Gorica. He is currently in the final year of the Royal Academy Schools Postgraduate Programme in London (2019-2023). This is his first solo exhibition in the UK.
