Join us for the UK premiere of Deborah-Joyce Holman’s Spill I-III (2022), an experimental video work which engages with politics of representation and explores queerness through nature.
Presented in a three-channel video, this work is a visual poem that draws on the theories of the poet and philosopher Édouard Glissant, and is a profound reflection on colonialism and slavery. Spill I-III creates a powerful vision of a world in which cultural diversity flourishes and the relationship between people and places, human and non-human beings, visible and invisible forces, air, water, fire and vegetation is constantly activated.
The film will be followed by a talk and in-conversation with the artist.
