The Hepworth Wakefield is delighted to be part of 20/20, a large-scale commissioning initiative led by UAL Decolonising Arts Institute which will support 20 emerging ethnically diverse artists of colour to take up residencies with 20 public art collections across the country, leading to 20 new permanent acquisitions and a joint online exhibition.
London-based multi-media artist Shenece Oretha will be artist-in-residence at The Hepworth Wakefield for a year from September 2022. During this time, Oretha will engage with local communities and explore the collection considering the influences of African culture on modernist form and considering the galleries as listening spaces.
