A selection of artist’s moving image works exploring collective practices and cooperative methods of art making that centre the work of contemporary black British women artists and artist's testimony; showcasing methods and tools for self-organisation, resistance, reflection, healing and togetherness backdropped by conditions of social adversity, uprooting and isolation.
The Cubitt 30 Screening Room is programmed by Cubitt’s Communications and Programmes co-ordinator Kadeem Oak. Modifying the gallery space into a multi-screening room this winter as we prepare to launch our Cubitt Curatorial and Civic Fellowship programmes commencing early next year.
Kadeem Oak is an artist and filmmaker who is currently undertaking a year-long residency at Somerset House Studios; prior to his role at Cubitt, Kadeem co-ordinated the Artist’s Moving Image Network at ICA, London.
