Overview

Part of A Modest Show, the collateral programme to British Art Show 9.

Fayre Share Fayre is the main course, a group show and central hub for A Modest Show, generously hosted in the South Gallery at the Whitworth. The exhibition brings together over 40 artists with a connection to Greater Manchester.

A Modest show with flesh, skin and bone. The theme of hospitality was born out of the conversations around legacy, agency and locality led by Arts Council England with a steering group of studio providers in the city. The group were keen to work alongside the British Art Show, to greet new audiences and visitors to Manchester after a period of isolation, to share practice, break bread and create lasting and meaningful working relationships.

Artists include:  Liam Ashworth, Iain Andrews, Andrea Booker, Robin Broadley, Angelina May Davis, Alena Ruth Donely, Claire Dorsett, The Artist Taxi Driver, Lee Elias, Violet Emsley,  Alison Forde,  Leo Fitzmaurice, Pat Flynn, Ryan Gander, Raimi Gbadamosi, Parham Ghalamdar, Rachel Goodyear, Mary Griffiths, Linda Hemmersbach, Matthew Houlding, Jaime Holman,  Richard Dean Hughes, Kevin Hunt, Hilary Jack, Horace Lindezey, Robin Megannity, Ahmed Mohammed, Ruth Murray, Claus Oldenburg (Private Collection), Sean Penlington, John Powell-Jones, Magnus Quaife, Benji Reid, Ken Reid, Luke Routledge, Scottee, Chester Tenneson, Katie Tomlinson, Alistair Woods, Anon (Judy Chicago "Dinner Party Workers” 35mm Slide)
