Bringing together 13 paintings made over the last year, Reminiscence is Japanese-artist Ulala Imai‘s second solo exhibition at the gallery. Each painting holds a close memory of hers, some which trace the subtle, slow eddying of seasons, others that capture a meal she‘s eaten at home. Ulala paints these fleeting moments to make them last, her brushes and paints capturing memories she‘d forgotten, but intended to keep. Once they‘re brought into the world, the cycle then repeats, painting like writing a diary, only she never closes the book.
