Drawing on the history of Latin American conceptualism, Rivane Neuenschwander's practice is underpinned by themes of mutability, geography and the natural world. This presentation at the gallery will comprise a new series of works on paper that continues her longstanding exploration of fear. The drawings depict anthropomorphic creatures entwined in brutal configurations. References to bloodshed and the erotic invoke the violent colonial history of Brazil and its exoticisation in western cultures. The presentation will follow her mid-career solo exhibition at Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Vaduz in November 2021.
