This winter, Saatchi Yates are pleased to present a solo exhibition of new paintings by artist Danny Fox. Danny Fox was born in St. Ives, Cornwall (1986), and has recently returned to his hometown having lived and worked in Los Angeles alongside his contemporary Henry Taylor. Danny Fox’s rhythmic canvases vividly display unlikely heroes of the 21st century. His subjects never shy from tragedy, promise, heat, violence and sex, but rather are entangled amongst all these elements in a lyrical, yet fragmented abstraction. Fox’s self described “concrete landscapes” recall local st.Ives predecessors, such as Ben Nicholson and Alfred Wallis. The conscious influence of St. Ives, where Danny grew up, is ostensibly negligible, as well as the influence of American contemporary painters such as Henry Taylor, and Torey Thornton.
Danny Fox’s most recent exhibitions include The Sweet and Burning Hills, Alexander Berggruen, New York (2021), and Eye For a Stye, Tooth For the Roof, Eighteen Gallery, Copenhagen (2021), Crowd, Hannah Barry Gallery, London (2021)
