Gazelli Art House London is delighted to announce "Traces of Modernism", the first solo exhibition of the artist David Diao in the UK. Opening on the 9th September, the show presents selected works from Diao's artistic exploration since the 1980s to the current time.
Born in 1943 in Chengdu, the artist immigrated to America through Hong Kong, and spent most of his life and career in New York. Diao is well known for interweaving modernist formalism with avant-garde iconography, identity politics, and his personal histories.
Concurrently with the exhibition of David Diao, Gazelli Art House will present a selection of British abstract painting featuring works by Gillian Ayres, Ian Davenport, Barbara Hepworth, John Hoyland, Albert Irvin and Bridget Riley. The show looks at how motion, rhythm and energy are expressed using line, colour and form.
