Overview

'The Club's Conception (or How the Egg Was Cracked)' A project by Ryan Kearney and Intervention Architecture, retracing the past venues of Birmingham's oldest queer space, The Nightingale Club, from recollections. From a terraced house to a working men’s club to an anglers association, its previous sites reflect ongoing threats of regeneration, and the need to shift, occupy and adapt heteronormative structures for queer purpose.
