As we emerge from lockdown Departure Lounge has invited multi-media artist Thomas Mailaender to curate a collection of images made, collected or found by people during the long months of isolation. Known for appropriating images from the internet and his own huge archive of curious, creative conjunctions, Thomas Mailaender’s work teems with humour and originality. As part of this process, and inspired by the Coronavirus lockdown, Departure Lounge’s local and international audience are invited to contribute their impressions of isolation, or images of what they have done during the lockdown, and the creative play that can emerge from boredom and enforced inactivity. What have you been doing during this unprecedented period of inactivity, and what have you collected, photographed or found as you’ve trawled the internet, sorted through old files, cleared the garage, or developed a new drainage scheme for your garden. Please send us your pictures – the most interesting of which will be integrated into Thomas’ Installation in Departure Lounge’s windows, or website while the gallery remains closed to the public
