Overview

Sarah Forrest works across film, installation, text and sound. Her practice weaves together elements of theory, fiction and philosophy to produce narrative driven works that playfully explore perceptions both of and by the self. Recital explores the dichotomy between emotional and critical understanding, through the artist's continued attempts to learn the drum solo from Led Zeppelin’s Moby Dick. Being unable to play the drums, Forrest followed online tutorials and took lessons with a trained jazz drummer, practicing weekly in a rehearsal studio and daily on books, knees and cushions.
