Overview

Le Bal d’Artemis Act II explores the discourse of hysteria and brings together new multidisciplinary works by French artist Liam Sy Paquemar. Sublimating the emotional and psychological state of hysteria as a scope for creativity, not mere pathology, Paquemar endeavours to redefine the hysterical. In doing so, he refers to the goddess Artemis and to the etymological roots of the word “hysteria”. Le Bal d’Artemis Act II, in which the spectator vacillates between a Hellenic or post-apocalyptic understanding, is a hunt for fresh beliefs and experiences alien to the archetypal.
