From the collection of Wayne Warren comes the inspiration for a new series of works on paper and canvas. Warrens eclectic vision for both making and collecting underpins his art. Warren is influenced by artists across movements, continents, aesthetics and though time. In this show, Inspired by Angry Penguins, we present four works by the Australian artist Sidney Nolan from Wayne Warren’s collection. Warren is an artist, a collector and an educationalist. He fosters relationships with artists, curators and is inspired by action in others, as if all the conversations, acquisitions and patronage is in someway distilled and made tangible. Inspired by Angry Penguins features new work by Warren in what he describes as the swoosh paintings, here we see all the same rebellious energy of vitriolic marks, and exuberant brushstrokes in Warren as we do in Nolan.
