Overview

Currently on display in the Foyer Gallery are a series of paintings by artist David Lowther. The images have been developed from drawings and photographs of a small clearing and wood near to the artist's home. As the artist describes, the paintings 'veer from being partly representational to partly abstract. I am most interested when they are on the edge of recognition. THis is usually when there is a tension; when a wish to express is worked against a reluctance to reveal'.
